Diversity statement

In the interest of fostering an open and welcoming environment, we as contributors and maintainers pledge to making participation in our project and our community a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.

Our standards #

Examples of behavior that contributes to creating a positive environment include:

  1. Using welcoming and inclusive language.
  2. Being respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences.
  3. Gracefully accepting constructive criticism.
  4. Focusing on what is best for the community.
  5. Showing empathy towards other community members.

Examples of unacceptable behavior by participants include:

  1. The use of sexualized language or imagery and unwelcome sexual attention or advances.
  2. Trolling, insulting/derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks.
  3. Public or private harassment.
  4. Publishing others' private information, such as a physical or electronic address, without explicit permission.
  5. Other conduct which could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting.

This list is a mere example, for a more detailed description, we invite you to read up on the moral compass of our Contact for CoC.

Scope #

This Code of Conduct applies both within online or offline events. Online these interactions are possible through Gitlab.com tools or Compony.io tools, or any other medium of communication. Any physical event in real life that proves bad intentions or non-inclusive behavior that is inappropriate, threatening, offensive or harmful is enough for the Compony project to take action, even if those behaviors are not directly linked to the Compony project.

We realise that this scope is quite broad, but hey, being a decent person is a full time thing. For example: If you are an outspoke racist on Twitter, but you play inclusive when using Compony, we still rather not have you in our community.

Our responsibilities #

We have the right and responsibility to remove, edit, or reject comments, commits, code, wiki edits, issues, and other contributions that are not aligned to our Code of Conduct, or to ban temporarily or permanently any contributor.

Enforcement #

A code of conduct is only as strong as the willingness and dedication of its enforcers.

Instances of abusive, harassing, or otherwise unacceptable behavior may be reported by contacting the contact for Code of Conduct. All complaints will be reviewed and investigated and will result in a response that is deemed necessary and appropriate to the circumstances. The contact person is obligated to maintain confidentiality with regard to the reporter of an incident.

Compony as a platform will do anything within it's power both legally and personally to protect all of it's members from harassment. By raising the bar for inclusivity for ourselves as members of a community, we raise the bar for the community itself. We don't do this because we have energy laying around and want to do something bohemian, we do this in the hope we inspire people to personally raise their own bar.
